I was delighted to find a rancher selling grass-fed bison meat outside the Kmart here in town. Yay! And apparently they come back every month, and give discounts on bulk orders. So I'll be concentrating on cooking from the freezer this month to make room for more awesome tastiness ( Read more... )

I'm re-starting the South Beach Diet, because Nebraska is full of corn and baked goods. And I've packed on about 40 lbs since the divorce-and-two-moves. Yikes. No more.

Holly Carp, what a weekend!

• In a three-day frenzy, we cleaned the house, and I mean CLEANED. ALL the laundry is done, including the weird costume stuff and have-to-be-washed-alone blankets and whatnot. DUSTING happened, people.

I've been a city girl all my life. Even living in the suburbs of a major metropolis is waaay different than living out here in the country. This is a bit like stepping into the 1950's.

• Elementary school kids walk home from school. By themselves. And are safe.

It's supposed to snow this week. OTOH, it's only the middle of October, OTOH, OMG YAY SNOW!

Due to it being before Samhain, I'm calling this a mark against Nebraska. Should there be enough snow for sledding later on, the state will have the opportunity to earn that point back. =)
